MONEY OR LOVE?

Hmmm. A very sensitive topic eh?
Can money buy love? We might get both yes and no answers.
What if there is no money? Love life can be miserable. Can we survive solely on love? What about solely on money? Hmmm...we need money more than love?

The truth is we need both money and love. We need lots of both and they are hard to find. Those who already have a lot of money (mostly from parents or great2 grandparents' wealth accumulation) usually will spend more, but there are those you have a lot of money and spend less while making more. When it comes to love, we tend to hide the feelings and seldom give love, we take it for granted, we are seldom passionate with members of the family, we assume there is love without showing much of the feelings. People said that when we scold our children, it is because we love them? They must be crazy! No one child will agree to that.

The confusion is why do people compare money and love. They are totally unrelated! Don't you think?

Last Minute

Life is amazingly interesting. Yes! It is confusing, complicated, stressful, frustrating, and all the descriptions one can think of. Somehow or rather, I like to sum them up as interesting. I always wonder how my bro & sis-in-law could do so many things last minute and all went well in the end. As an educator, can you imagine the disaster I would create if I do things last minute? You know what I mean if you are a student! Anyway, apparently I overlooked that last minute things happen in my own home all the time!

Lets reverse and recall a bit...
2.00pm on Thursday, my hubby said lets go to KL tomorrow..mega sales (yipeeee!)
Friday in KL - decided to call a friend and bought some stuff - special delivery from Kajang
Saturday - last minute call of other stuff from Ampang
Saturday - got a new laptop ( a beauty..hmmmm I love my hubby!!)
Spend 540 on shoes - extra extra large
Monday - last minute date with Reena
Monday - sudden decision to start a new business
Monday - last minute quiz written on the board..hahaha

What Was I Thinking?

I decided to scrape the idea of studying about why people blog. I mean, who really cares why they do? They have time. Everything is about TIME really. So since i have some time this weekend..just to note a couple of things that happened of late..Hmm lets recall:

May 29 Datu Faizal's wedding reception in Malacca. Archie was his bestman
May 30 Me, Reena, Fadzli & Redzwan flew to Penang and off to see Nina at UiTM
May 30 Dad flew to Jakarta
June 1 Returned to KK Via KL
June 9 Shafina's wedding (neighbour's daughter)
June 13 Datu Faizal's wedding reception in Lahad Datu
June 14 My two boys returned to MMU
June 15 Schools 2nd term started
June 16 OWh..the house is really quite.......
June 19 STPM UPU results out..joy, cries, confusions..all will be ok I just know
June 20 Dad went to Tenom, came back 6.30pm and off for dinner n will be late
ooooooowh......Adik let go out!!!!

Thoughts without heads or tails

I am back the soonest I finished my lecture!

It's actually nice to talk to 'nobody' really. Strange yet fulfilling. Silly and crazy to talk to the pc and read back what you wrote eh? Bloggers share their thoughts and read comments that come by. Hmmm not really talking but communicating. No voice but there are words. I guess we can call them blogheads..is it too much?? Assuming you read this, what do you think? Blogheads is ok with you? or anyone prefer Blogbrain (sound like blockedbrain) Hahaha...I am sure you (lia) will find my writing a bit weird now..simply because I was driven crazy in class by my students and this is the effect...

My idea is to create a name for bloggers and relook at why they blog. Why some are so much into blogging that they are practically glued to their pc/laptop etc...unlike sms-ing cos one simply had to reply or the other side would think you purposely avoid contacts. Hmmm.... I need time to think and investigate the level of satisfaction achieved when people blog. Is the marginal benefit greater than its marginal cost? Is it similar with spending almost half of your lifetime working and missed out things that we take for granted...like spending more daytime with family..visiting aged relatives etc....hmmm I need time to come up with ideas on this...but one thing for sure. I will be back!

LOL

Hectic

If you have a child who had just finished SPM, wouldn't you worry about where he or she would go next? Of course as parents we all would plan for next level of study..I was much more anxious that my own daughter, Nina when it comes to her college applications. The not-so-good news was ... when the results from local varsities were out, she was unsuccessful.

With lots of patience and some pulling of strong strings...we got news that she has been accepted to UiTM Kedah. Sounded so remote and I began to worry. But study at UiTM means we don't have to fork up much for a local uni. So that weekend (8th May) we flew to KL and big bro Archie and dad drove all the way up north to survey the uni. Hey! Its a good campus! way better than the one in KK.

But the problem was the news wasn't formal..only through sms. (Risky eh?) Being me, I called the uni, UiTM Kedah and checked on the registrations dates. ( more than 15 times!!) You wouldn't believe this..the dates given on the sms didn't tally with the dates given by the uni. The sms stated 28th May(Hmm) It was about two weeks of yo-yoing and yet nothing was final. I must thank my sis-in-law in KL (thanks dear) for the advice and comfort.

One fine day (22nd May) while I was lying down flat as I was taken ill, I overheard Nina's shaky converstion on her hp about having to travel next day (23 May) to Kedah. (I was evesdropping). I recovered in split seconds and my brain functioned like the worldwideweb....ticket bookings, daily clothes, shoes, bajukurung, car rental to Kedah, hotel booking, personal stuff, food to much and oh no...have to buy luggage bag the very same day! It was HECTIC!!

Yes we did it! All done in 1 day and we (hubby, adik, Nina and me)were at the KK airport 6am heading for Penang...and big bro Dzwan was waiting at Penang airport to drive us to UiTM Kedah. Yes .. smooth registration and back in KK the very next day. It was like a dream... and now everyday I plan of how to escape to Kedah......

LOL all readers..

Time Flies

It's been 'ages'....and was not easy to recall my password for this blog after awhile...College and school holidays just ended and home is all for the maid from 7am till Reena, my youngest gets home from school around 2.00pm. Not that the maid would jump up and down when she's home alone at last..but rather she would be able to sleep a bit longer after we left for work...hmm oops it's time for class so I will be back.....(m stealing time at work...hahaha..who doesn't)

Money Flies Faster Than Time

Gosh! It's unbeleivable for a medium income earner like me to spend much more than the number of minutes in a day! I didn't think that I could spend over 20k in a week but I did! On what? Nothing really extraordinary..lets recall

Day 1: 400 for my two boys just for fun.... 350 for girls' t-shirts
Day 2: 2000 for mum, 550 for sis and 200 foodstuff for same sis;150 toiletries for boys
Day 3: 3500 for girls' saving - 1500 nina 2000 reena
Day 4: 5000 unit trust nina ; 10000 unit trust - mine
Day 5: Hey that's 22,300 spent in 4 days!!! What was I thinking....why can't I just leave it in my account?

Money does fly faster than time indeed!

NO...No regrets, it's a good feeling spending like this. Wish I have much more to spend on new car, new house, new furniture, new curtain, gold and diamond for me and all my family members too....what a dream. Maybe I will win a Airasia 10k ....at least I can get gold bracelets for me and my two girls...

Half a Century Old Delicacy

When the Chinese describes their century eggs as a delicacy, I thought it was crazy. Then, suddenly this light came to me about the their rationale of centuty eggs. Being rotten can be good in a sense that rotten stuff can become fertilizers as they decomposed into a totally different compound. However the Chinese do not see it as rotten eggs but rather a 'matured' and 'utmost' supreme condition of any types of eggs on earth.

This must be one of the weirdest food in the world. Eggs preserved for a hundred or even thousand years! The yolk becomes a dark green, cream-like substance with a strong odor of sulphur and ammonia, while the white becomes a dark brown, transparent jelly with little flavour or taste. The transforming agent in the century egg is its alkaline material, which gradually raises the pH of the egg from around 9 to 12 or more. This chemical process breaks down some of the complex, flavorless proteins and fats, which produces a variety of smaller flavourful compounds. Some eggs have patterns near the surface of the egg white that are likened to pine branches." Wow..sounds so delicate..now I know why they regard them as delicacy. Have you tried??

A Plan or A Dream?

My 12-year old Reena started her maiden blog last night and the contents were so very very sweet. However, after awhile I thought of ways to help her improve her Manglish...to real English. Though she used words that I had never taught her before, I still think I should get a friend to guide her on good English from scatch. Hmm..... may be my other three kids and even myself should join in.

My plan for Reena is to ensure that she gets 5As in the UPSR exam and do science subjects in the secondary school. If she goes to a boarding school, I am sure she can get at least 7 A in PMR ( don't know about English though) and hopefully 8 As in SPM. Hmm.....then she would qualify for a scholarship to do medicine.... locally. At least at the University of Malaya, if not overseas. (Not India!)

It may sound like a dream, but 10 years from now I will get to see this blog again and post my joy as Reena becomes Dr Reena!! I feel totally good dreaming about it...will start planning.

Be back soon.

A Month of Happenings: March

Today is Nina's 18th birthday! She can get a kiss for her boyfriends if she has any!??? She can kiss them too??? NOPE. HAHAHA. I am joking. If that happens, she will be grounded and have to stay in Sabah and study for STPM for 2 years! I guess big bro and cousin sis and Ahlina enjoyed a birthday treat at Wagamama, One Borneo today.

So, what's with March?
The BAD 1ST
Broke a tooth. Ouch!
I lost the most expensive necklace. Couldn't sleep for 3 days!
Scared to tell hubby. It was a gift from him a day earlier.
My hp had a splash of H2O at the pool.
My hubby lost 2 hard drives. He realised after a lapse of 1 year!
I had to search for lost items and went almost crazy for days!!
Missed a Zoo outing because of the crazy search!

The GOOD
Nephew got married in Johor.
Another getting married in May.
Free journey and shop in KL
My eldest son, Dzwan 23rd Birthday. RM200 for budget gathering at MMU.
Nina and cousins and close friends cleared all SPM papers
Bought her a laptop
Called my mum. Sent her some $
Kids, cousin and hubby went for Zoo outing. I had a good rest.
Nice treats at Baba Nyonya and ate till we drop at Wagamama (Hmmm)
Found my necklace after 3 days of the most stressful period. (In a hidden space in my own handbag. Ameen...)
Today I found my hubby's hard drives..they were placed so close to the garbage exit for almost a year!!....Ameen
My hp is still working. Yes!

I am so thankful to God who tested my patience in dealing with just a handfull of problems compared to so many beautiful things that happen within the same month, March. Indeed the month of MARCH this year is so meaningful to me now as realise that I will be 50 tomorrow!

SPM 2008 Result

Result is out today! My daughter gets 3A 3B 3C and that is an achievement of last minute study, for the so-called most important certificate in Malaysia. Do you know that without it you would not be able to be employed in the country especially the government sector? Unless, it's your own family's empire, of course!

I am proud of her as she didn't fail any subject! I know she could have done better if not because of the frequent internet use at home. I think she spends far much more time on Korean artists, movies, concerts, and Korean songs than her revision for SPM!! You can ask her if you like.

So, what's next? She is on her way to a university foundation programme of her choice.

Congratulations sweetie!

Down Memory Lane

Feeling nostalgic? Think of all the wonderful moments of sweet encounters with friends, families and someone you totally adore. Whoever the person maybe, you soul would be filled with beautiful thoughts that no one else could describe. The feelings would flow thoughout your body and rekindle your spirit with love, joy and life. Close your eyes and do just that!

Ever felt that before? Well, I just did. These are some pictures that made life a sweet experience.

A Thought

Being a mum to 4 kids is not easy in the beginning. But now that they are no more cries for milk and puried meals, life seems easier to handle. Not that there are no worries anymore but rather glad that they are matured enough not to swallow just anything, fall down the staircase, and pick sharp objects etc. etc! Sleep was a luxury when they were small, and I could't afford much of it then. Now? I just wonder why some people sleep long hours...6 hours is long indeed!
